James Cairns is freelance writer, facilitator and actor based in Johannesburg, South Africa. He worked in the education and corporate sectors for many years before he saw the light and now only works in education and for companies when it seems like the right thing to do.

His interest in the commons was piqued when Heather Ford came to speak to his students a few years ago. Some time later, Heather approached him to organise the programme at the iSummit, and it seemed like the right thing to do. So he's the guy you go to at the iSummit when you are not sure where you will be presenting or when your facilitator is on the blink.

James has been to Japan once before and he thought that the trains were even cooler than people said they were.
